Domenico Alessandro Lampasi (or, shortly, Alessandro) received
- The M.Sc. degree in Electronic engineering from the University of Rome Sapienza, Rome, Italy, in 2002;
- The Ph.D. degree in Electrical engineering from the University of Rome Sapienza, Rome, Italy, in 2006.
Current affiliation & interests
He is with the Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development (ENEA) and seconded to DTT S. c. a r. l..
His research interests and working activities in ENEA are mainly focused on the electrical and electronic systems in nuclear fusion experiments. In this field, he is and was involved in several national/international projects.
He is currently:
- Responsible of the Coil Power Supply Team of the Divertor Tokamak Test (DTT) facility, including members from 11 research and industry partners.
- Coordinator and Leader of the EUROfusion Task "In-vessel Coils Power Supply" (DIV-IDTT), supported by the by the European Agency EUROfusion in the framework of the Horizon Europe (2021-2027) Program.
- Project Responsible of the Contract for the procurement of the power supply system for the DTT Vertical and Radial Stabilization In-Vessel Coils awarded to the company OCEM Power Electronics.
- Project Responsible of the Contract for the procurement of the power supply system for the DTT Divertor Coils awarded to the company OCEM Power Electronics.
- Project Responsible of the Contract for the procurement of the power supply system for the DTT Non-Axisymmetric In-Vessel Coils awarded to the company Equipaggiamenti Elettronici Industriali (EEI).
- Director of the Contract with the Company OCEM Power Electronics for the procurement of the DTT TF Fast Discharge Units.
- External reviewer for the design of electrical power supply systems of the tokamak SPARC under development by Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS).
- Responsible of the ENEA Frascati laboratories to test transformer losses according to the European Union Regulation EU 548/2014.
- Member of the Board of the PhD School in Science and Technology for Complex Systems at University of Rome Sapienza, Rome, Italy.

In ENEA he was:
- Coordinator for EUROfusion Task "DEMO Steady State Electrical Network, HV Switchyard configuration and generator operation" supported by the European Agency EUROfusion in the framework of the Horizon 2020 (2014-2020) Program.
- Responsible of ENEA electrical engineering contribution to the Japanese Tokamak JT-60SA supported by the Italian Ministry of Economic Development (Ricerca di Sistema Elettrico) in the framework of the "Broader Approach" agreement.
- Director of the Contract with the Company OCEM Power Electronics for the procurement of an arbitrary current generator up to 2 kA with integrated energy storage and recovery capabilities.
- Director of the Contract with the Company OCEM Power Electronics for the procurement of the JT-60SA Switching Network Units, successfully delivered in October 2016.
- Director of the Contract with the Company Equipaggiamenti Elettronici Industriali (EEI) for the procurement of the power supply system of the experimental plant Multi-Pinch/Proto-Sphera.
- Director of the Contract with the Company Mont-Ele for the procurement of a high-efficiency 5-kA power supply.
- Assisting the Contract with the companies POSEICO and JEMA for the procurement of the JT-60SA Superconducting Magnet Power Supplies and transformers, delivered in 2017.
- Coordinator of the task "High-Voltage Power Supply and Modulator" of the Task Force "Cyclotron Auto-Resonance Maser (CARM)" aimed to develop a new generation of high-power heating source up to 250 GHz for nuclear fusion applications.
- ENEA Contact Person for the Goal Oriented Training in Power Supply Engineering (GOT-PSE), supported by the European Fusion Development Agreement (EFDA).
