ENEA GRID is successfully used in e-Science. Now it's time for e-Humanities!
Enabling ENEA-GRID for Digital Humanities opens new perspectives in the analysis of literary texts.
The GRID enables scholars to perform quantitative and comparative studies on text corpora, by using linguistic software for computer-aided analysis.
Furthermore, the GRID Infrastructure provides access to computational resources for the storage and processing of large textual corpora from heterogeneous sources (Internet, Digital Libraries, Data Bases, Archives, etc).
GRID and e-Assyriology
In the domain of Assyriology, ENEA GRID is a digital enviroment for the storage and processing of rare and fragile sources materials.
Furthermore, it offers a collaborative environment, to share knowledge and digital resources: electronic language resources (grammar, multilingual dictionaries, lexica, thesauri, ontologies, etc.), digital textual archives, databases, software, fonts, research drafts, etc.
In the GRID virtual environment, the integration of text mining software, lexical resources and data representation tools opens new ways of approaching the study of cuneiform corpora.
ENEA TIGRIS is a Virtual Lab in e-Humanities, based on the integration of e-tools in GRID infrastructure for e-Assyriology.

ENEA-GRID in e-Assyriology is an ENEA Contributions to Safeguarding Material And Immaterial Knowledge from Ancient Mesopotamia.
ENEA has two ongoing projects: Nuzi_e-DUB.SAR and e-ŠNUNNA
The Nuzi_e-DUB.SAR Project is an exploratory study of text mining on cuneiform corpora
(transliterated from clay tablets) and network analysis and visualization of relationships among texts, words and characters (mapping genealogies, etc.), useful for studies on stemmatics, authorship attribution, philological researches, etc.
The project Nuzi_e-DUB.SAR analyzes an administrative corpus extracted from Nuzi texts, and transliterated from the best preserved tablets.
For this case-study a complex of e-tools has been employed on the selected e-texts.
First results shows that the integration of e-tools in the GRID virtual environment offers an innovative insight in the study of ancient and rare texts.
In the e-ŠNUNNA Project a new strategy to analyze data has been proposed. It consists in exploiting data mining algorithms tuned on assyriological transliterated corpora from cuneiform tablets.
This approach supports Document Clustering of assyriological e-texts
The project e-ŠNUNNA analyzes a corpus of letters from old-Babylonian Kingdom of Eshnunna (XVIII century B:C:) from Albrecht Goetze's "50 Old Babylonian Letters from [Tell Abu] Harmal". These letters offer important elements for a study of the Eshnunna old Babylonian grammar.
For this case-study an original Data Mining Algorithm has been employed, with other e-tools , referring to first transliterations of A. Goetze.
Preliminary results shows that document clustering is highly effective in discovering high quality gropus and in highlighting interesting relations among data.
