Title: Relativistic dynamics of stars around the Galactic center

Abstract: The region around the Galactic center is very dense of stars. The so called S-stars have been deeply studied in their kinematics by two scientific groups who shared the 2020 Nobel prize for Physics (R. Genzel, MPIA in Garching; A. Ghez, UCLA, Los Angeles). These high resolution studies yielded to the orbital reconstruction and subsequent determination of the central mass responsible for the high speed of the S-stars. Here we start from the observational evidence of orbital precession for the S2 star to investigate on a theoretical side what level of quality can be reached in the orbit angular precession when using the post-Newtonian (PN) scheme, which is approximated but allows the inclusion of various effects, like that of a possible spin of the central massive object. Our results show that the inclusion of PN terms above the standard 1PN (Einstein-Schwarzschild) is needed to determine angular precession at sufficient level of accuracy for those penetrating stars that would allow to pick contemporary the value of the mass and of the spin of a possible rotating (Kerr) super massive black hole.
