Title: The Relativistic Triangle: An Elementary Conceptual Framework for Special Relativity
Abstract: The Relativistic Triangle is a conceptual tool, often exploited to provide a geometrical interpretation of the fundamental identity of the special relativistic kinematics. Within this context, the energy, momentum and rest mass of a particle are gathered by an algebraic relation, geometrically interpreted as the Pythagorean theorem. Energy, mass and momentum are then understood as the sides of a right triangle. Such an identification might be devoid of any meaning and just a mere formal coincidence, if it had not provided a tool to convey the subtleties of special relativity in a more effective way and a conceptual framework to place fundamental questions pertaining to the role of rest and relativistic masses.
