Title: Dynamos from basic ingredients to exoplanets.

Abstract: The origin of astrophysical magnetic fields remains controversial. However, the dynamo mechanism is currently the most serious candidate for explaining how magnetic fields reach the observed strengths. In this framework, kinetic energy is converted into magnetic one in the presence of turbulence. In this talk I will present some recent works aimed at identifying which are the most basic ingredients for having dynamo action in astrophysical contexts. I will also present a specific case of numerical dynamo studies in the interiors of giant gaseous planets which finds applications to Solar system planets. Moreover this method allows us to predict magnetic field strength and topology for gaseous exoplanets, since we still lack a confirmed observational proof of exoplanetary magnetization.
