This work can be performed using a PIC 16F84 processor with LED connected to three output pins. We are using PORTA BIT 0, 1 and 2 which means that you should use pins 17, 18 and 1 of the 16F84 as the output. The LEDs should be connected between each output pin and pin 5 of the PICmicro, with a suitable current limiting resistor in series with each.
Matrix PICmicro development board users
Click on the "PICmicro Configuration button" located above the contents tree,
select the RC oscillator and click 'OK'.

Note: for Lab 1.4 and the exercises , you will need to set the FAST/SLOW switch to FAST.
