This is the home page of the activity related to the ENEA partecipation into EGEE/EGEE-II/EGEE-III projects.

The focus of ENEA partecipation in EGEE/EGEE-II/EGEE-III projects has been the interoperability between ENEA-GRID infrastructure and EGEE.

The activity has lead to the implementation of an interoperability solution based on the ENEA Gateway Approach which has enabled the access from EGEE production infrastructure to a subset of ENEA-GRID AIX nodes (105 nodes).

The Gateway approach has recently evolved into SPAGO [Shared Proxy Approach for Grid Object] to extend its applicability to a more general case than the interoperability with ENEA-GRID. WIth SPAGO any UNIX-like resource can be easily connected to a gLite based infrastructure. Thus the approach can be used as a work-around solution to provide access to still unsupported platforms and operating systems, see the EGEE porting activity: http://grid.ie/porting/

Access to EGEE resources for ENEA users

the user must have a valid Personal Certificate;
the procedure to obtain a certificate is described in https://security.fi.infn.it/CA/mgt/restricted/ucert.php ;
the name of the Registration Authority can be found in https://security.fi.infn.it/CA/RA/;
the RA will use the form https://security.fi.infn.it/cgi-bin/RAvfy.pl found in https://security.fi.infn.it/CA/RA/ to start the registration procedure.

The procedure is performed from a web browser, as described in the given reference.
When the procedure is completed the certificate must be extracted from the browser, using the Certificate Management section, and saved in the format certificate.p12; a password will be asked to protect the saved certificate; this certificate must be converted into the format userkey.pem usercert.pem using the following openssl commands:

openssl pkcs12 -in certificate.p12 -clcerts -nokeys -out usercert.pem
openssl pkcs12 -in certificate.p12 -nocerts -out userkey.pem
The last command asks for a new passphrase that will be used later, when the grid-proxy-init or voms-proxy-init commands will be issued by the user.

the user must belong to a VO - Virtual Organization

the "enea" VO has been created to permit ENEA researchers to experiment with EGEE infrastructure; the request for membership to ENEA VO can be obtained using ENEA VO Home page;
ENEA researchers can also be members of other VOs and the membership must be asked following the procedure required by each VO, by contacting the concerned VO manager. Informations about the VO can be obtained on the site VO Informations [Certificate Required for the access]

the user should use a system where grid commands are available: the user interface machine for ENEA is egui.frascati.enea.it where any user of ENEA-GRID infrastructure con log-on via ssh. The user certicate (userkey.pem and usercert.pem) must be located into the ~/.globus / folder which must be protected for access from anybody except the user.

voms-proxy-init -voms enea : autentication as a GRID user of the enea Virtual Organization (proxy creation).
voms-proxy-init -voms enea:/enea/Role=SoftwareManager : autentication as GRID user in the role of SoftwareManager for the enea VO.
voms-admin -u https://voms.cnaf.infn.it:8443/voms/enea list-users : list of all the users in a VO
voms-proxy-info -all : getting all the information on the current proxy
edg-job-submit job.jdl: submitting a job to the grid; the jdl file contains the control information for the job; the command returns a job_identifier string.
edg-job-status job_identifier: getting the information about the status of the job.
edg-job-get-output job_identifier: retrieving job results.
edg-job-cancel job_identifier: cancelling a submitted job.
